Is it really necessary? A Rated Ltd think it is.
It is an essential part of any Boiler replacement or Central Heating upgrade work.

When a central heating system has been working for many years, the water within the system inevitably becomes contaminated, breakdowns and blockages can occur, corrosion and leaks usually follow. This is mainly due to the effects of electrolysis and corrosion following the ingress of oxygen into the system via leaky joints or poor design. This will lead to expensive callouts and repairs.
When a Boiler is replaced it is imperative that any design faults are rectified and that, contamination is cleared from the system. This process is called a ‘power flush’. Cleaning chemicals are pumped throughout the system and any ‘magnetite’ is collected on powerful magnetic rods. All contaminated water is ‘dumped’ via valves within the machinery during the process.
When the process is complete the system is treated with a chemical inhibitor to protect against future corrosion. This process is also recommended for existing central heating systems, as it can prolong the life of the system add to the efficiency and can help to make noisy systems run a little more smoothly.
